Whenever you complete an application for individual life, health or disability insurance, the medical information you provide to the issuer can be sent to the Medical Information Bureau. The Medical Information Bureau includes medical conditions, which are represented using one or more of about 220 codes. There are also five codes for reporting non-medical information that might affect insurability including an adverse driving record, participation in hazardous sports and aviation activity. Currently, there are no comprehensive laws regarding medical records privacy, however you can check the accuracy of the information in your Medical Information Bureau Report.
